An exciting addition to Edinburgh’s new writing scene. Showcasing extracts from four brand new plays read in front of a live audience, with a chance to carry on discussions, meet the team, writers and actors in the comfort of the Roxy Snug Bar.

The plays showcasted this May will be:


Shelf Life by Ann-Marie Draycott & Charity Trimm
Shelf Life is a comedy play about three friends who reconnect when their sons win a TV talent show and become the biggest boy band on the planet.

 

Going Home by John McEwan-Whyte
Shaheem, an ex-member of ISIS, is trying to return to Britain to give birth to her child. But when a Times journalist recognises her and asks for an interview, what she thought was an opportunity to rush her homecoming turns into a debate over whether or not it’s deserved.

 

Little Boxes: Martha Keith- Barnett
Two teenagers struggle with how to mourn someone they barely knew. A short play exploring the desire to whitewash the characters of those who have passed away.

 

Jennifer Devers: Centre of Attention
A dark comedy of escaping domestic abuse at Christmas time; of things hidden and secrets kept in order to survive and of a child’s fight to have the last word.
