EIIF: Musical Improv Workshop with Showstopper

12:00, 28 Feb

With eleven sell-out years at Edinburgh Festival Fringe, two West End runs, an Olivier award and a BBC Radio 4 series, Showstopper: The Improvised Musical have been a rip-roaring success since the show opened in 2008.

Over the day the Showstopper team will introduce you to their training method, including areas such as song-creation, storytelling and acting whilst improvising.

This course is for people with some degree of improvisation or musical theatre experience, who should already be confident with acting and singing. It will be led by two of Showstopper's longest serving members.

A fantastic opportunity to learn from some of the best improvisers in the UK.

Blank Script are excited to present the annual Edinburgh International Improv Festival (EIIF), Scotland’s first and only festival dedicated to improv. After a successful launch in 2019 EIIF is back in 2020 with an even bigger and better line up!

“Thank you for the wonderful work that you did with our students, it was one of the funniest hours I have had at Mountview. The project really helped equip these students with new skills.”

Jacqui Somerville, Head of Acting and Musical Theatre, Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts

"The Showstoppers broke down our barriers and taught us to make things up in a way that was at once relaxed and exhilarating.”

Benjamin Dobson, intensive workshop participant January 2017

“I went from absolute beginner in musical improv to taking part in a full performance in just 5 days! I am very grateful for the passionate and determined approach Showstoppers took to helping us learn and progress as much as we did… All in all, a thoroughly educational and fun experience!”

Matt Sparkes, intensive workshop participant January 2017
